Wisconsin Commercial Real Estate Women (WCREW), is pleased to announce the winners of the Ninth Annual WCREW Showcase Awards, which recognizes significant real estate development and redevelopment projects in Wisconsin. Projects that achieved substantial completion for occupancy or opened between July 1, 2006 and June 30, 2009 were considered by a panel of judges made up of community leaders and real estate professionals.

234 Florida Awarded SE2 (Sustainability and Energy Efficiency) Leadership Award

The Winners of the 2009 SE2 (Sustainability and Energy Efficiency) Leadership Award were announced at the 6th Annual SE2 Conference and Award Ceremony held in Milwaukee on September 16, 2009.
The ceremony, attended by more than 350 people, was opened by Mary Schlaefer, the Director of Focus on Energy. After hearing comments from competition Judge Don McLauchlan, each winner received an engraved plaque made of recycled glass.

Few women in real estate development are paving the way

A glance at the employee rosters of the Milwaukee area’s largest development companies will reveal very few women involved in multimillion-dollar, mega commercial or residential projects.
Commercial real estate development is a male-dominated world when it comes to nailing down the financing deals with banks or other lenders and putting investors together to allow the residential high-rises and 1 million-square-foot office buildings to move forward.

A group of investors led by Ann Pieper Eisenbrown, president and founder of Pieper Properties Inc., is progressing on the redevelopment of the former Allen D. Everitt Knitting Co. building at 234 W. Florida St.
